Electric Corvette By Genovation Sets 205.6 MPH Land Speed Record
The Genovation Extreme Electric car (GXE) made history on July 28, 2016 by breaking the land speed record for a street-legal all-electric vehicle.
The new world record speed for an all-electric, street-legal vehicle is 205.6mph. This Tesla-busting newsflash comes courtesy of Maryland-based outfit Genovation, who call their electrified C6 Corvette the ‘GXE’, meaning, um, ‘Genovation Extreme Electric Car’.
Genovation claims the twin-motored GXE delivers 660bhp and 600lb ft, shunted through the standard Vette six-speed manual. The GXE became the world’s first street-legal electric car to exceed 200 mph on it’s way to reaching the final record-breaking speed of 205.6 mph during supervised tests with Johnny Bohmer Racing at Space Florida’s Shuttle Landing Facility in Kennedy Space Center, FL. The record was certified by the International Mile Racing Association (IMRA). The previous record, which also was held by Genovation, stood at 186.8 mph. Watch the full video by Genovation Cars!
